Today's card is a submission at canyoucaseit.com. I chose Night of Navy standard A2 card. I used the retiring Stripes embossing folder. I sent it through the Big Shot once and then flipped it over to get the diamond look. I used three sizes of "bling" and strategically placed them on the folds. Is there a rule on too much bling? I think not. I did want the variance of the bling and so I really  just eyeballed it.

The stamp set is Happy Happenings. It features 13 stamps that have both outside of the card sentiments and inside of the card sentiments. I cut out the shape using the Decorative Label before stamping the image in versamark and using white embossing powder to help the image show on the navy cardstock.  I love this stamp set for that reason that you can have the sentiment on the outside and it is tied into the inside greeting. Makes it so much easier to say the right words. The inside of this one is "and so happy that you happened to each other" How cute!!!!

Did you get your catalog yet? Please email me at ykimberly326@gmail.com if you haven't and I will get one to you pronto. I'm so excited for June 1st to be able to cross some of my wish list off and share with you my new goodies.

Thanks for looking :)

Happy Thursday to you. I decided to try my hand at a challenge for TGIF this week. It is a sketch challenge. What is great about a sketch challenge is that you simply copy the design. It can be challenging if you are unsure of what to use and if you are like me you need to play around to make it just right. This week I had a light bulb moment and knew EXACTLY what I wanted to do.

The colors are Pumpkin Pie and Pacific Point. I used the Brights Designer Series Paper (DSP) Stack. I love, love, love (did I mention love) the script writing. I cut the paper in 2 x 2 squares and lined them up like wallpaper. Now I have plenty of 2 inch scraps to use. Don't worry I have an idea for those :)

The stamp set used is Swirly Bird and it is in the NEW CATALOG! This stamp set is great because not only do you get 24 photopolymer stamps that you can create Sailboats, Kites, flowers and birds but it has coordinating dies in a bundle pack. Of course, you can get them separate too but having a coordinating die makes it so you don't have to fussy cut.  The words come from Thoughtful Banners and wow! This set comes with 54 stamps. Mostly words that you can add together to make a phrase. There are congrats, words of wisdom and also a banner to emphasize the words. And yes, there is a punch that lines up perfect to the banner. I actually did fussy cut only because I wanted a border to make it pop. I embossed the sailboat and the kite and then connected them with the kite string.

How do you get the catalog? EMAIL ME. Ordering starts June 1st and I cannot wait. I have a wish list and will be plucking away throughout the year. I can't wait to share my creations with you.

Have a Happy Day!

 Saying Goodbye to a favorite

This week's challenge at canyoucaseit.com is a sketch created by Elizabeth Jeanne Thatcher. For it, I chose the Sky is the Limit stamp set. This set is Awesome. It was the first saleabration item I got and by far my favorite. The last day to order is February 16th and is FREE with a $50 order.

I used Basic Black with Typeset DSP as background. In keeping with my promise to detash my stash from years gone by...I used the chalkboard paper. The ink is Whisper White Craft ink and my thought that I would make the Airplane swirling like in the old days at Airplane Shows. Sometimes an idea is better in the head :) I feel that i still capitalized on the feel though by showcasing the first airplane with a little more shading and adding glitter to the propeller. I stamped the sentiment on the Jute Ribbon located on page 159 in the Annual Catalog.

Let me know what you think!

Endless Possibilities with Endless Birthday Wishes

This week's challenge was using this Sketch by Linda Callahan for PPA 286.  I have wanted to do this stamping with Endless Birthday Wishes (pg 6) and finally had the opportunity. This set gives you 27 stamps filled with good wishes and one word pick me ups to help celebrate a friend, loved one, favorite bank teller, coffee barista or whomever you feel is in need of fun filled birthday wishes.

The colors used are Delightful Dijon, Blackberry Bliss and Lost Lagoon. Headed right to the in colors this time. Blackberry Bliss and Lost Lagoon are only with us until June (insert sad face here) but Delightful Dijon will be around for another year. The DSP is Typeset (pg 142). This is not as thick as the usual DSP...almost like a vellum. I love the options of a map, newspaper print, stripes and this bold number pattern. I softened it a bit using the dots from the stamp set.

The baker's twine is from last year's Saleabration. I'm fulfilling my quest to use some stock from year's past on this year's creations. I liked the fraying that was caused by trying to cut while it was glued on the card already(whoops). Had to make sure the other side was the same...don't want lopsidedness.

Enjoy!

No stamps involved on this one...

It is another Can You Case it? Challenge. Here is the details:

I am a craft hoarder. I admit it BUT this year I am making a point to use my stuff that I have been collecting through the years. The cute Neutral doily's you are looking at are maybe three years old :) I dragged them out of the bottom of the drawer and shed some light on them. Here is my card using Black, Real Red and Neutral.

Okay, so no stamps involved? Yep, no choosing an ink from my color caddy. No having to clean the stamps after with my Stampin Scrub. No ink on my fingers. Who am I kidding...I love to stamp. Maybe next time :)

I used my embroidery floss from a time when I wanted to cross stitch. I decided paper was more my calling. This is using the font Carnival Dots and using my electronic cutter it made the holes for me to follow through.I used a basic stitch and tried to do french dots instead of the "x" in the middle. Guess how that worked for me...

This is a standard card measures 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" and uses Basic Black card Stock. The Real Red is embossed with Swiss Dots. I used a gold from a paper pack bought at Michael's last year. I taped all down using my Tombow tape runner and used dimensionals to pop up the wording.

I think I fulfilled some of my resolution by using already handy stock. I think I'm going to reward myself by buying something small ;) As always, tell me what you think :)

Valentine Hugs & Fishes

Good Morning Everyone. The Color Challenge from Pals Paper Arts was to use Watermelon Wonder, Pink Piroette & Tip-Top Taupe (yes, I dare you to say this 10 times fast). I had wanted to use the new Friends and Flowers stamp set but it just didn't look right. So, I reached in for another favorite of mine, By the Tide. Located on page 82 of the Annual Catalog it features 7 stamps pertaining to the ocean.

I used the Coral and the Fish. The Coral is stamped in Watermelon Wonder while the Fish is stamped off once. I was able to use the "x" from the Friends & Flowers stamp set in the Occasions Catalog. The waves I used the Pink Pirouette and the Scallop die using sponge dauber to create the waves. I went over it again with the Watermelon Wonder. I used Crystal Effects to make it look like a fish tank. I used the Handpicked Framelits and cut out in Tip-Top Taupe and Whisper White. I fussy cut the Whisper White to allow for the border of  Tip-Top Taupe to show through. I also used the Hardwood Stamp, on page 128. Finished up with some beads I have laying around. Oh and the flowers are from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, located on 166.

The sentiment I saw something like it on Pinterest. I thought it was so cute and had to use it! That is my own handwriting using the corresponding Watermelon Wonder marker. Love that Stampin Up offers coordinating colors with paper, inks, markers, ribbon and embellishments...Sure does make it easier!

As always, leave your thoughts. After posting I thought of another idea so I may go back to the drawing board and upload the finished product. That is what is great with crafting...you never stop creating :)

Don't put the Christmas Stamps away...just yet

January 28, 2016

My first post on my new Page! I came across this cool sketch at Can You Case It.com CYCI #104 and knew which stamp set I was going to use. I did use some retired dies but most of it is current :) The stamp set is White Christmas located on page 68 in the Annual Catalog. It features the trees, a deer, snowman, birds among other things. I like to use stamps outside of the box and don't necessarily use them in the season they are intended for. Who else is guilty?

The DSP is Timeless Elegance and OH EM GEE it is by far my favorite. So good, that I have had to reorder a time...or two. DSP stands for Designer Series Paper in case I have newbies out there (and welcome, btw). These can be found on page 142 & 143, also in the Annual Catalog. The snowflake is Festive Flurry (retired) and heart is from the Heart Framelit (also retired).

The sentiment is the Greetings Thinlits on page 172 and Little Letter Thinlits, also on page 172. Yes, I used Adele as my inspiration. The song is amazing and has a billion hits on youtube. Where do you get your inspiration. Please leave comments and let me know what you think.
